Proximity Hotel Offers Suite Dreams for Your Home

Most everyone wants a bedroom that reminds them of a luxury hotel suite. So when I had the opportunity to tour this hotel I couldn’t wait to see what it had to offer.
Built to use 40% less energy and 30% less water than a comparable hotel, the AAA Four Diamond, locally-owned Proximity Hotel in Greensboro, North Carolina offers a glimpse of the future while celebrating the past. Sustainable practices, custom-designed furnishings, locally commissioned art and innovative design await the guests.
Proximity Hotel’s green sustainable design and construction follow the guidelines of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System (TM). Both the Proximity Hotel and the nearby Print Works Bistro attained the USGBC’s highest rating, LEED Platinum.
LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in six key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, indoor environmental quality, and innovation in design.
After finishing the tour I thought about the hotel’s LEED approach as it relates to our homes. Many of its design elements can be incorporated into our homes with some creativity and thoughtful investments. Take a look at the photos: the hotel is friendly to the environment and the eye. Not only is it beautiful, it is an inspiration. Suite Dreams!
