Fall 2011 High Point Market – Revived & Renewed

My pick for “Best in Show” at the High Point Furniture Market is this beautiful, one of a kind desk at the Phillips Collection Showroom.
Making the best of a bad situation, the hardworking people of Thailand are salvaging wreckage from the 2004 tsunami and creating art. Crafted from uprooted trees, this organic furniture represents the resourcefulness and artistry of people struggling to recover from a devastating tragedy.
Unrefined wood elements like this desk ground a room with a connection to nature. Reused and repurposed wooden objects with their unique characteristics add depth and personality. These beautiful natural pieces are a “must have” for many contemporary interiors today.
The great thing about repurposed wood objects is that you can find them everywhere and feel good about conserving precious resources. So join this growing global trend and enjoy bringing a little bit of nature into your home!
