New build, remodel and decorating clients in the Raleigh North Carolina Triangle Area benefit from my lifelong worldwide design experience. Having been at the forefront of cutting-edge design in some of the world’s largest cities I have seen some remarkably interesting homes. My Internationally Inspired Interiors will give you a new viewpoint! Did you know I met my husband in Paris in the 70’s? Eventually we moved to the British Hong Kong in the 80’s. Then the Republic of Singapore […]

Homes of Heart

What Does Home Feel Like to You? As the sun rose on a new day in Hong Kong shortly after we moved there, I remember walking hand in hand with my husband down the crazy streets. Having met in France we were excited about this next adventure. Our hearts told us the move to Hong Kong, a British Colony then was the right thing to do, but I questioned everything my overwhelmed senses were telling me. As we continued down […]

Modernist Church Saved from Demolition

Historic Calvary Lutheran Church in Edina, MN narrowly escaped destruction in 2023. Up for sale due to a dwindling congregation, in the summer of 2023 the Edina School District eyed the church to expand their campus. Thankfully, in the fall of 2023 it become the Emmaus Road Reformed Church. The architects of this 1970 Modernist sanctuary, library and music addition were Bergstedt Wahlberg Bergquist Associates of St. Paul, MN. This was my home church growing up in Edina. I remember […]

Oceanfront Oasis

This luxury vacation rental home is located directly on Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. The expansive beachfront property took 2 and a half years to design and build. The homeowner’s art collection inspired the interior design and home furnishings. We pulled the color from the two original horse paintings hanging in the open concept family room for the turquoise area rug. To mimic the furry pony hair we used long haired curly lamb’s wool throw pillows that were multicolor dyed. See […]

Vacation Rental Design

The design of this beautiful vacation rental home, named “Gallery by the Sea,” was inspired by my client’s original art collection. The goal of this new construction project was to create a relaxing and refreshing retreat. What a joy to share the photos now. Enjoy! Hearst Castle Architecture and Interior Design History

Lifetime of design and decorating inspiration. The unbelievable architecture and interior design collection of the Hearst Castle recently blew me away again! I first visited the Hearst Castle as an 8-year-old, and it was clearly a defining moment in my life. My memories of the astounding grandeur and beauty remained and influenced my own design style. Hearst Castle is an Art Museum, National and California Historic Landmark and California State Park located on the Central Coast near San Simeon. It […]

Historic Interior Design in Churches

Ornately painted designs lift the spirit. The inspirational designs covering the interiors of this House of God were created by German immigrants seeking solace during the late 1800s. The immigrants fled persecution and survived hardships and sorrows, but persevered because of their faith. The Painted Churches of Texas were constructed with the same beauty and craftsmanship as the old-world German churches. After their pilgrimages, the churches became peaceful anchors in the immigrants’ new world and reminders of their homeland. People […]
