New build, remodel and decorating clients in the Raleigh North Carolina Triangle Area benefit from my lifelong worldwide design experience. Having been at the forefront of cutting-edge design in some of the world’s largest cities I have seen some remarkably interesting homes. My Internationally Inspired Interiors will give you a new viewpoint! Did you know I met my husband in Paris in the 70’s? Eventually we moved to the British Hong Kong in the 80’s. Then the Republic of Singapore […]
What Does Home Feel Like to You? As the sun rose on a new day in Hong Kong shortly after we moved there, I remember walking hand in hand with my husband down the crazy streets. Having met in France we were excited about this next adventure. Our hearts told us the move to Hong Kong, a British Colony then was the right thing to do, but I questioned everything my overwhelmed senses were telling me. As we continued down […]
The design of this beautiful vacation rental home, named “Gallery by the Sea,” was inspired by my client’s original art collection. The goal of this new construction project was to create a relaxing and refreshing retreat. What a joy to share the photos now. Enjoy! What a joy to honor a hero of the American Interior Design Industry, Lillian August, at the Sherrill Showroom. This family-owned home furnishings business has weathered trends, crises and licensing agreements. For 30 years Lillian’s storytelling has been influenced by romantic English country houses, coastal mansions and fashion. She engaged us with a signature style of quilts, textiles, wallpaper, lighting, décor and furniture. She even opened retail stores. The company founded with her son in 1988, now includes grandchildren in […]

Lifetime of design and decorating inspiration. The unbelievable architecture and interior design collection of the Hearst Castle recently blew me away again! I first visited the Hearst Castle as an 8-year-old, and it was clearly a defining moment in my life. My memories of the astounding grandeur and beauty remained and influenced my own design style. Hearst Castle is an Art Museum, National and California Historic Landmark and California State Park located on the Central Coast near San Simeon. It […]
Ornately painted designs lift the spirit. The inspirational designs covering the interiors of this House of God were created by German immigrants seeking solace during the late 1800s. The immigrants fled persecution and survived hardships and sorrows, but persevered because of their faith. The Painted Churches of Texas were constructed with the same beauty and craftsmanship as the old-world German churches. After their pilgrimages, the churches became peaceful anchors in the immigrants’ new world and reminders of their homeland. People […]

Historic New Bern North Carolina has colonial design roots. Tryon Palace, located in New Bern, North Carolina, is a replica of the mansion built in the late 1760s. Royal Governor William Tryon brought architect John Hawks from London to design and build the Georgian-style structure to serve as the first Colonial capitol of North Carolina and home to the Tryon family. Following the revolution, the site held the general assembly for the State of North Carolina and housed the state […]
