Did you know interior design can add soul to your home? I ask all my clients, “What do you want your home to feel like?” Regardless of the answer, we jointly come up with a plan to affect the sentiments the client wants to express. One client wanted her home to feel calm. When we finished decorating, she said, “Lisa has helped me to turn my house into a home and has been so incredible to work with. She’s thoughtful […]
We designed the floorplan of this bath with an easy-entry large double shower that is curbless and threshold-free. We found room for the clients dream freestanding soaker tub and added a new large picture window above it. The separate vanities add balance opposite the hair drying and makeup vanity. It is the background atmosphere of this spa-like bath that truly make the space flow together. First, we selected several different tiles for the walls, floors and backsplash. (The basketweave shower […]
What a joy to honor a hero of the American Interior Design Industry, Lillian August, at the Sherrill Showroom. This family-owned home furnishings business has weathered trends, crises and licensing agreements. For 30 years Lillian’s storytelling has been influenced by romantic English country houses, coastal mansions and fashion. She engaged us with a signature style of quilts, textiles, wallpaper, lighting, décor and furniture. She even opened retail stores. The company founded with her son in 1988, now includes grandchildren in […]
What a pleasure to meet International Interior Designer Marjorie Skouras at Currey & Company. Her first collection debuted there in 2010. For this market she designed lighting and furnishings inspired by her home garden and ranch in The Yucatán. Her beautiful collection of vintage Mexican dresses was also for sale to raise funds for Kookix Music School there. In 2015, Ms. Skouras, a fourth generation San Franciscan, moved from Hollywood to The Yucatán. She restored an Art Nouveau mansion listed […]
Many interior designers and architects understand that we need beauty because our surroundings impact our well-being. Science has now shown that our brains release chemicals which make us healthier when we see beautiful things. These neuro-aesthetic studies explore how light mimicking the sun, color, natural materials and patterns makes us feel better. This is not news to me. Creating environments that ignite emotion has always been my goal. My mindset-first approach lifts my clients to live their best lives. Recently […]

Featured at Fall 2022 High Point Market was this over-the-top extravagantly designed sofa with leopard fabric embedded with 2.4 million cut crystal stones and a brushed brass frame. It was shown at the premier of Eichholtz’s new collaboration with German fashion designer Phillip Plein. Meeting the designer was quite an experience! There in front of a large crowd I was encouraged by the sales representative to take a seat on the Icon sofa. I felt awkward but thought, “Why not?” […]
